EMERGENCY LOGISTICS TEAM – What We Do…

We have signed an MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) with the Kimmage Development Studies Centre in Dublin who are a developmental training institute with great esteem who have over 40 years’ experience in this field of study. Through this MOU we are delivering our first course, an Introduction to Humanitarian Logistics Principles, throughout April, May and into June 2015. There are 38 people who have signed up to receive this training, nearly 100% more than was expected.

We have also signed an MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) with an Iraqi national NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), Iraqi Institute for Development, with the aim of delivering H&EL (Humanitarian and Emergency Logistics) training directly to the refugees and IDP’s (Internally Displaced Person), initially within the Kurdistan region of Iraq (KRI) but with the plan to deliver same throughout Iraq as and when the situation allows. We will train the Iraqi NGO staff who will then be able to go further than ever to share this training directly to those who need it most.

We have also procured and distributed water to 100’s of Internally Displace People who were temporarily living within the grounds of St Joseph’s Church in Ainkawa, Erbil, Iraq in July 2014. The ability to respond, while in country, to the ever changing needs and requirements is a key tenet of the Emergency Logistics Team project. Agile and quick to respond as and when required.

We are working with the private sector too with the aim of developing bespoke pre-deployment training for their staff who will both work in emerging countries on private projects but who also send some of their staff on CSR projects and they are aware of the duty of care that they have to these people so that they are prepared before they go on deployment.

We are also putting together a group of Supply Chain & Logistics professionals who will be available to work on consultancy projects for both NGO’s and the private sector. Their experiences and knowledge brings with it the ‘added value’ required in order to show cost saving initiatives as well as working on new and improved supply chains greatly building the resilience and capacity of these organisations and companies.
